Meg-A Readers Recap Week 1 (Awaken Review)

Hey Everyone!! :)

Meg-A Readers has officially started!! (BTW, there is still time to sign up!!  You still have 4 more days!! Just go to THIS link!)

To start off this week's recap, I've got my review of Meg's newest release (July 2nd, 2013), and the final book in the Abandon Trilogy... Awaken!!!!!

Meg was so awesome and kind to both Diana and I, that she sent us both ARC copies of Awaken!! :)

***WARNING***This Review may contain spoilers from the previous books in the Abandon Trilogy!!!***

From Goodreads:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, the dark reimagining of the Persephone myth comes to a thrilling conclusion.

Death has her in his clutches. She doesn’t want him to let go.

Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera knew by accepting the love of John Hayden, she’d be forced to live forever in the one place she’s always dreaded most: the Underworld. The sacrifice seemed worth it, though, because it meant she could be with the boy she loves.

But now her happiness — and safety — are threatened, all because the Furies have discovered that John has broken one of their strictest rules: He revived a human soul.

If the balance between life and death isn’t fixed, both the Underworld and Pierce’s home back on earth will be wiped away. But there’s only one way to restore order. Someone has to die.

My Thoughts:

Wow!! Love this series!! Then again, of course I do!! It's Meg Freaking Cabot!!  The most amazing author ever!! I guess some of you may say I'm biased...oh well lol. :)

Anyway, the conclusion to the Abandon Trilogy, Awaken was everything a reader could hope for to this series!  It had adventure, great characters, an ending that felt good, but in the end could possibly maybe be expanded in the future???  Who knows though??!!

Pierce has Meg's signature charm, when it comes to her characters.  She's funny, sarcastic, knows what she wants.

John is hot!!  A great guy, who truly adores his girlfriend, Pierce.

Pierce and John, in Awaken, just truly want to get rid of these pesky Furies, who just continue to try to ruin both of their lives!  Not only is Isla Huesos (Island of the Bones) in danger from a mad storm hitting, but also the Underworld is in danger now!  The Fates are gone, which means no one if there to help John, Pierce, and everyone else living in the castle of the Underworld!

The adventure in this book is great!  We've got fighting scenes involving whips, knives, pitch forks...so much!  We've got a great love story!  A modern retelling of the Greek mythology of Persephone, the queen of the Underworld, this series had it all!

Overall rating:

I loved it!  While almost everything was perfect, I will admit to sort of not liking one thing...Pierce's in difference of finishing high school.  Okay, call me old fashioned here, but at barely eighteen, no matter if needed or not (which, lets be honest here, Pierce wouldn't need high school, since she'll be ruling the Underworld with John for the rest of their lives) school is still important!  I'm just hoping she'll continue reading! :)

Anyway, other than that, this is a great series, I highly recommend it!!!

Definitely check it out! :)
