Finding It (Losing It #3) by Cora Carmack (ARC) (Blog Tour)

I am so excited to be asked to be a part of the blog tour of Cora Carmack's new book Finding It, the third book in Cora's Losing It series!

I am a huge fan of Cora's first three books (that's including Keeping Her, the novella she wrote for the series too!)  in the series, and was definitely excited to read this new one!

Unfortunately, while I enjoyed this one, I will admit it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for...

From Goodreads:

Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find where you truly belong...

Most girls would kill to spend months traveling around Europe after college graduation with no responsibility, no parents, and no-limit credit cards. Kelsey Summers is no exception. She's having the time of her life . . . or that's what she keeps telling herself.

It's a lonely business trying to find out who you are, especially when you're afraid you won't like what you discover. No amount of drinking or dancing can chase away Kelsey's loneliness, but maybe Jackson Hunt can. After a few chance meetings, he convinces her to take a journey of adventure instead of alcohol. With each new city and experience, Kelsey's mind becomes a little clearer and her heart a little less hers. Jackson helps her unravel her own dreams and desires. But the more she learns about herself, the more Kelsey realizes how little she knows about Jackson.

My Thoughts:

Alright, so while this definitely had some of Cora's signature humor in it, it had some major flaws in the characters that I didn't really like.  I will admit, for instance, I was not a huge fan Kelsey.  I thought she was a cliche rich girl, who spent her daddy's money to get back at him.  Honestly, I've always found those people so unbelievably annoying, probably because I work three jobs and extremely hard for my money.  While I understood completely Kelsey's heartache about her past, and how she tried to erase that pain by turning to a bottle and partying, I still found myself not being able to relate to this character at all.
I did like how she realized by the end of the novel that while she always believed herself to be a strong-willed person, that in reality she was weak...and that I thought was the turning point in Kelsey's life; the time she realized that she needed to change her ways.

One other thing that sort of bothered me was how soon I pegged the twist in the story!  I literally called what was going to happen by the second time she saw Jackson! (Seriously people, has no one seen Chasing Liberty with Mandy Moore??)  I read on some people's reviews that they were so shocked by that turn in events.

However, needless to say this book still contained Cora's fabulous writing.  It had some great adventures.  I loved the details that surfaced as Jackson and Kelsey were traveling through Europe.  And I especially liked the ending.

All in all my rating is:

While, this isn't my favorite Cora Carmack book, I am still very much looking forward to future reads by Cora!  She is definitely an author to look out for, if you're a contemporary new adult romance fan!  She has a great writing style, usually some great characters, and always adventures in romance throughout...that one you can definitely guarantee on!  However, I will warn you, these book are considered New Adult, therefore contain some mature adult content, involving sex and language...so if you don't like those things in your reading...then I probably wouldn't recommend reading them!
