Meg-A Readers Week!! IT'S MEG CABOT DAY!!!! Day 4: Princess in Training (Princess Diaries #6) by Meg Cabot (Giveaway!)

Meg-A Readers Week!! Day 4!!!
Before I get to my first review of the day, I just want to say...

HAPPY MEG CABOT DAY!!!!!!!!

Yes, today is seriously Meg Cabot Day!!!! The mayor of Bloomington, Indiana (the hometown of Meg!) pronounced July 31st, Meg Cabot Day!!

Today's first review is of Meg's 6th book in the Princess Diaries Series, Princess in Training!

From Goodreads:

Princess for president! Student body president, that is -- nominated by her power-mad best friend, Lilly. This is not how Mia imagined kicking off her sophomore year, but as usual, she has bigger problems to worry about, like Geometry. And now that Mia's one true love, Michael, is uptown at college, what's the point of even getting up for school in the morning? But the last straw is what Lana whispers to her on the lunch line about what college boys expect of their girlfriends. . . . Really, it's almost more than a princess in training can bear!

My Thoughts:

As most of you know by now, this was my absolute favorite series in high school! It helped me get through a lot of hardships, because while my friends weren't always there for me when I needed them, Mia was!

Each one of these books sticks out to me in some way.  I remember pieces of each books, and while I can't tell you always which book contained what, because there are over ten in this series (if you count the novellas).

This one sticks out to me because it starts discussing a subject that to a lot of teenagers is super awkward...sex.  Trust me when I say, Meg Cabot does a great job with bringing up the subject without making this series too much for a young teenage girl!

While I know, today's teens, heck even when I started high school, almost a decade ago, had a ton of teens not just talking about sex, but actually going out there and doing IT.  Sometimes even with strangers!! To which, all I can say is...EWWW!!!

Anyway, besides the point, I don't want to say I was slow growing up, but in a way I was.  And honestly I can say, it was by choice.  While yes, my friends and I discussed IT, and I thought about it sometimes, it was something that I knew, if it came down to actually doing IT, that I knew I wouldn't have been ready, especially if I wasn't in love with the guy I was doing it with.

Mia is sort of like me.  Except, she's already found the guy she is in love with, but she knows she is not ready for IT.  And there isn't anything anyone can do to change her mind.  Which I love!

One of my favorite characteristics about Mia is that she's not easy to push-over.  She doesn't allow others to peer-pressure her (even though she does get that a lot, especially from her so-called best friend Lilly, and her arch-nemisis Lana).  She does what she wants!

In that case, she's almost as independent as she can be.  What with having a bodyguard assigned to you, which can make being independent a bit difficult sometimes.

While, yes Mia can be very immature, something I was too at the age of 15, especially now looking back LOL, but she's growing-up and doing it HER way.  No one else's, only her own way! And I love that!

Overall rating for Princess in Training:

I'm just going to repeat this as I review this series:  This is a must read for teenage girls growing-up!  Seriously! It's so relatable, in my opinion, and because the series takes place throughout Mia's entire high school years, you grow-up with her! At least that was the experience I had! :)

So definitely check it out!
