Meg-A Readers!

Hey Everyone!

As some of you know, I am a HUGE Meg Cabot fan!

In fact, she is my all time favorite author!

I have an ever expanding collection of almost all of her books...

The Top Shelf, and a third of the second shelf are all Meg Cabot books!

In fact, I counted them up and it currently stands at 63 books!  I own 63 of Meg Cabot's books!!  And with next years releases that will turn into 66!  Oh goodness I'm so excited!!

When did I read my first Meg Cabot book?

Well, I was one of those young girls who loved the Disney movie The Princess Diaries.  The movie came out when I was in the fourth or fifth grade and it became one of my favorite movies as a little girl.
So when my freshmen year in high school came around, and my English teacher gave us the semester to read 1,000 pages, I hit the school library trying to find anything, just to get the assignment over with.

You see, I was never a big reader before then.  English is my second language; I moved to America when I was seven, and went through elementary struggling with reading and grammar; so to say the least, at the time I didn't really know what I was missing.  All I had read at that point was Junie B JonesMagic Tree House, a few The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids, and of course my personal childhood favorite Harry Potter.

So anyway, back to the story...I was scanning the bookshelves of the library, when a title popped out at me! And yes...the book was The Princess Diaries.  I picked it up.  Read the back. Thought about it...and then said to myself, "Hmm...what the heck!  Might as well try it."

You can probably figure out what happened next :)....I FELL IN LOVE WITH THEM!!

I ended up reading all the books in the series, that were available at the time.  And over the rest of my high school years I reread them, and reread them, about five times.

When I was finished with them, I would head to the library and check out something else by her.  And every time I started another book by her, I just fell in love with her stories more and more!  They made me laugh, they me sad, they made me happy, and most of all they made me LAUGH!  I love Meg Cabot's humor!  When I was feeling down in school, her books would make me laugh.  They allowed me to escape the drama of high school.

The last Princess Diaries novel, Forever Princess, came out in January of my senior year in high school.  I got it as soon as it came out and devoured it within two days!  Reading that last page felt like a happy memory was ending in my life.

I went through high school with Mia.  We had friend drama together, boy trouble, woman issues (^^), and we pretty much graduated together.  It felt like Mia had become my best friend during high school.  Tears were streaming down my face as I closed that book and placed it on my shelf with the rest of the series (I had bought them by that time :), don't worry I didn't steal from the library haha).

When I started college in the fall of 2009, I decided to write a letter to Meg, telling her I was one of her many loving fans who had enjoyed many hours of reading her novels. I hadn't really expected anything  back...I was hoping of course...but after about two months I had slowly given up hope.

But then one day, after a long day of school, I got home around 6 p.m. and went to the mailbox, where I found that return envelope I put in that letter for her.

I rushed inside, threw my backpack on my bed, and tore open that envelope!  Inside I found not only a book plate, but also a personalized letter from Meg, telling me how much she appreciated hearing from me, and that it was readers like me that kept her going sometimes.  At that moment I felt so special!  To this day, that is one of the coolest memories I have :).

I know now, that she has most likely written back to many of her fans, but none the less that signature, letter, bookmark, and Greenpeace sticker (Mia's favorite organization) hangs framed on my wall, right where everyone who walks in can see it! :)

It is Meg Cabot, who I would like to thank for getting me to love reading!  Because of her, I have become an absolute bookworm!  And even though my main genre reading choice is Young Adult, the books have reached further than just Meg Cabot.  Now, I read anything that sounds good to me, and try to have an open mind about every book I pick up.

Now, to the real point of this post!

Meg-A Readers!

In April of 2012, I came up with an idea.

An event dedicated to all things Meg Cabot!!

To make this idea (and dream) come alive, I joined forces with another fellow Meg Cabot fan, Diana over @ Little Miss Drama Queen, and Meg-A Readers was born!

Diana and I have made this into an annual event now!  We started it in 2012 with an entire month dedicated to all things Meg, then in 2013, we made it two months, because that was how it worked out with Meg's novels Awaken and The Bride Wore Size 12 being released.

2014 is a little bit of a break year.  While we definitely still wanted to do something for Meg-A Readers, we realized we couldn't make it as long as it's been in previous years.  For one, Meg announced early on in 2014 that she wouldn't be releasing anything new this year, because she was working on three projects for the year 2015, which somewhat of a year for rest this year, and next year...WORK WORK WORK!

Then in Spring of 2014, she made the amazing announcement, all of us Princess Diaries fans have been waiting more than five years now for...A new Princess Diaries book was being released in 2015!  Then it was also announced Meg was releasing a new middle grade series next year, which would ALSO be in the world of Mia Thermopolis, but instead of focusing on Mia, it would be focusing on her long-lost sister, that she had no idea existed before now.

But that wasn't all!

For all of us Mediator fans, Meg also announced that she would writing another book in the world of our favorite Ghost hunter, Suze! Along with her hot Ghost boyfriend, Jesse!

So to say that 2015 is going to be an exciting year, is an understatement!

Anyway, so for 2014, because there were no new releases coming from Meg, Diana and I decided to only dedicate an entire week to Meg-A Readers!  Which happened July 28th-August 3rd...

The week we thought would be plenty and give us just enough time to celebrate our favorite author!

For Meg-A Readers 2015, while Diana and I have only discussed it very briefly, I can tell you one thing...it's going to amazing!  Since we don't know the release dates yet for any of the books, we don't know when we'll be holding it, it will most likely be taking place during the summer months, because that is when most of us, if we have any, have at least a bit of more free time.  I'm hoping next summer will be nice and relaxing, because as of right now, it looks like I'll be hopefully transferring to University that coming Fall.

ANYWAY!  So now you know how Meg-A Readers was started, and of course we are ALWAYS looking for people to participate!  So if you're interested in participating, you are absolutely and 100% welcome to email me anytime at:

Meg-A Readers 2015 is going to be incredible year, and we are SO excited for it to get here!!!!
